LIVE performance: Stan Hairwin by Fred Pierre
Opening for Good Medicine A show about a scientist and bushman who is obsessed with hair specimens, particularly afro and kinky hair. Stan has been studying such hair for a while now and is excited to share his findings with the audience through the art of narration. A mix of comedy, drag, dance, spoken word, and clown art, all aimed at celebrating black afro hair in both historical and current contexts. |

Opening for Kokomo City meetha (translation = sweet in hindi) presents one's journey of coping, self-care, and resilience through a diverse soundtrack of sugary tracks, as a flurry of interactive surprises unfold before the audience. meetha prompts laughter and joy, while steering clear of cavities. |

LIVE Storytelling by Nicholas Pullen
Opening for Taking Up Space Nicholas Pullen is the author of the upcoming gothic historical horror triptych The Black Hunger, out on Orbit Books in Autumn, 2024, as well as numerous short stories, one of which, ‘Famous Blue,’ placed third in the Toronto Star Short Story Contest in 2019. His work has also appeared in The Copperfield Review and Anti-Heroin Chic. He is a graduate of Somerville College at Oxford University, where he received his BA in History, and holds an MA in history from McGill University. By day he is a treaty negotiator at Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada. He knows the names, locations, depths, and stories of every shipwreck in Georgian Bay, and most of the rest of the Great Lakes for that matter. |
